Week notes #23

These week notes are getting later and later each week! I guess the next one will be slightly shorter, since there's only 5 days left this week.

I guess the biggest news of all doesn't directly affect me, but like many others, I've been following the US election results closely and was excited to see Biden take the lead and, eventually, winning the election. Now, I know votes are still being counted and there are re-counts, but it's fairly widely accepted that the result won't change. So, I guess the only thing left to do is sit back and watch what happens over the next 3 months.

Slightly closer to home, our youngest started nursery on Monday so now we find ourselves with an entire hour every day where we don't need to be looking over our shoulder while cooking lunch. So far this week, I've done some comic work and reading without having to squeeze it all in at the end of the day.

The comic

As I mentioned last week, I've started looking at colouring Issue 1. I've still a loooong way to go before I'm done with that but I'm just enjoying the process right now.

Colouring comics isn't something I've done before and so it felt a bit daunting. After putting a call out for some pointers from colourists on Twitter, Kris Carter responded and kindly spent an hour or so taking me through his process which gave me a good starting point. Since then, I've just been forcing myself to get stuck in and I'm already getting lovely feedback from people.

I'm going to keep on working on Issue 1, now I've got the drive to colour the thing so the next few weeks updates may well just be a series of progress photos. An added bonus is my Instagram feed now has a bit more colour as opposed to my usual black and white-only art.
