I'm a designer and illustrator by day, and by night I make my own comics. This page is a brief look at the sort of work I do.

Below are just some of the companies I've worked with over the last 23 years. Some as part of agency roles, in-house, or as small freelance gigs I used to do in my spare time.

I joined Advise Wise as the first employee and my initial brief was simple:
To use good UX design to tap into a gap in the market. Where other systems didn't really take much of a user-first approach, we built a product driven by the needs of financial advisers.
The foundation work began on setting up the design system, working on a library of components before expanding out to specific features.

My background in front-end development played a key role here too. As Figma components were agreed with the key stakeholder, I moved into code and created a mirror-image of our component library ready for use on the web. This ensured consistency was maintained from design right through to production.

As the team expanded, my role also expanded beyond UX and UI design. For 7 years, I've been working closely with Marketing to produce a great deal of assets for use across many marketing channels, such as email, print, events & social media.

Christmas was always a time where I was able to have a bit more fun with colours and subjects...

In addition to Christmas campaigns, there was regularly a requirement for themed illustrations throughout the year.

Following a redesign project, it was decided that the illustration style should also be updated and rolled out across the website and marketing assets. Aside from the overall style changing, a key change was to limit the scope of colours used to shades derived directly from the core brand colours.

To date, I've self-published three comic books and published a bunch more online (my current on-going project is called Splorers, which is free to read).
Murder Mystery and other stories was a short collection of three comics featuring a Poirot-like detective character but unlike Poirot, he's a bit of an imbecile.

Daily-ish Comics is a project from 2024/25 where I took on the challenge of making a comic strip every day (or every other in some cases) which I collected together into a book of 48 comics.

Digital painting (and painting in general) is relatively new to me but I'm trying to improve my ability to match colours with what I see and try to convey mood.
